Jawara Haughton (Abyss Da Dark) a Brooklyn, NY native took an interest in rap at the age of ten, being heavily influenced by his eldest brother. The word ‘Abyss’ was a word that he used a lot when he was younger in his rhymes and ‘Da Dark’ part was added by his eldest brother.

Abyss Da Dark cites his musical influences as his older brother Prim Diamonds, early DMX, Nas, early Jay-Z, Lauryn Hill, and Eminem.

Abyss Da Dark dropped two mix tapes from 2007-2008. ‘Opium’ and the follow-up ‘Opium 2 the Addiction’, which were both mix tapes done over industry beats.

In 2009, he released ‘Forever and a Day’, his first original project with fellow Brooklyn producer Panama Red. Collaborating with producer Panama Red challenged him to create heartfelt music with meaningful lyrics. As quoted by Abyss Da Dark "To me ‘Forever and A Day’ wasn’t a mix tape its special. Its more like a long ep or something.”

In 2010, Abyss Da Dark released two projects ‘Opium 3’ and ‘From My Heart with Love‘. ‘Opium 3’ being a warm up for his next project. In the month of October he released his long awaited second project with producer Panama Red ‘From My Heart with Love‘.

During Valentines Day 2011 a new project was released digitally titled ‘Liquor & Love Songs”, which was inspired by a heartbreak.

Abyss Da Dark is currently working on his EP ‘Tomorrow Only Comes Everyday’ release date to be announced. The project will blend genres and enlist New Zealand producer Sydney Willis and Brooklyn producer Biggs.
